Miriam Brown

Miriam Brown is having a breakdown
Her mind is lost and it can’t be found
And in her head she goes round and round
About what to do with her life.

She did some bad things a long time ago
And the end result is that she doesn’t know
Which way to turn or which way to go
To do anything good with her life.

She wants to do this and she wants to do that
And she looks for a sign but can’t find where it’s at
Too many ideas to fit under one hat
And she thinks she’s wasted her life.

So she kneels down and she tries to pray
But the words won’t come; she doesn’t know what to say
She feels that God is an eternity away
And He has no interest in her life.

Because nobody loves and the nations are whores
There’s too much blood washing up on the shores
He’s too preoccupied with all of the wars
To care about what she does with her life.

But she’ll hang on, she’ll make it okay
Like Miss O’Hara says tomorrow’s another day
She’ll find her mind and she’ll find a way
To make a poem out of her life.
